Multiple Effect Evaporator (Triple Effect/ Double Effect/ Single Effect Evaporator)
Ylem Parto design, manufactures Multiple Effect Evaporator efficiently using the heat from steam to evaporate water. In a multiple-effect evaporator, water is boiled in a sequence of vessels, each held at a lower pressure than the last. Because the boiling point of water decreases as pressure decreases, the vapor boiled off in one vessel can be used to heat the next, and only the first vessel (at the highest pressure) requires an external source of heat. While in theory, evaporators may be built with an arbitrarily large number of stages, evaporators with more than four stages are rarely practical.

It has become widely used in all industrial applications where large volumes of water must be evaporated, such as salt production and water desalination.

The evaporation remains basic process for a concentration of solutions in spite of significant competition of different bro-membrane processes. The processes of evaporation are used in the different branches of industry - from food industry to chemical industry, in which evaporation is a widespread technological process. Theoretically, the multiple-effect evaporators allow to decrease consumption of energy for a concentration almost proportionally to number of effects .

Evaporators are used for reducing product volume, remove water prior to drying, and to improve product storage life.

Evaporation is a highly energy-efficient way of removing water or other liquids and thus the primary process for the production of concentrates. Process time can be shortened by distributing the liquid to a greater surface area, or by using a higher temperature. Higher temperatures combined with longer residence times can, however, cause degrading of many foodstuffs.

Typical evaporator applications:

• Product concentration
• Dryer feed pre-concentration
• Volume reduction
• Water / solvent recovery
• Crystallization
